When planning ICT inclusion in primary education; grades 1 – 4, people often miss out the simple questions. It seems that teachers are either overwhelmed or plainly lacking basic computer skills and therefore lack a cohesive and holistic vision and understanding of the matter. They usually end up scraping the surface: use a little bit of this and that, and that’s it.
School’s should map out the skills needed to master computers, software and strategies, and their correlations to curriculum. When we begin using ICT in primary we are able to transform it to be an instrumental tool in students range equaling with reading, writing, math, etc.
In following articles I will map out a path for primary schools to provide a comprehensive ICT -strategy that will ensure more efficient learning with the help of ICT. All software and services that I’ll mention are either Free or Open Source or platform independent. There really should not be any hidden or extra cost for schools to use best ICT -solution in education.
