Our school has been using an e-learning platform now for 2 years. I have a bit more experience of several platforms but what has always bugged me is that at comprehensive school we use them as something extra, “I’ll use it with students if we have time…”, is a reoccurring comment that I hear way too often. I think that one of the problems is that teachers feel that e-platforms are very static and time consuming. Teachers very often claim that they need at least a computer lab, desktops for all the students, to be able to even use Fronter or Moodle. I disagree.. one needs only one but four plus teacher’s would be ideal. Students should be working in teams that do multiple projects and different tasks, so that the teacher has time to instruct and teach all the students.
Mobile Devices and Learning Platforms
I’ve had only one real problem with the e-learning solutions: the lack of mobility. How could we be taking notes and sending images to our platform? Well seek no more! M-learning is finally at our grasps. Blackboard has released its mobile learn client for Android, iPhone, iPad and Blackberry! I wonder when the others will catch up?
